Optomap® Retinal Examination

With the Optomap®, we are pleased to offer all of our patients an improved retinal examination.  Your doctor strongly recommends the Optomap® as a means of enhancing their ability to detect serious eye disease.

Optomap

The Optomap®:

  • Is fast, easy, and comfortable.
  • Enables us to educate you more fully about your eye health.
  • Will not require dilating drops in most cases.

The Optomap® provides:

  • A more complete view of the back of your eye (the retina) than previously possible.
  • A digital record of the structures of your retina that becomes part of your permanent medical record.

Your doctor highly recommends the Optomap® exam because:

  • The early signs of eye disease are more readily detected.
  • Vision loss is best avoided by detecting diseases as early as possible.
  • It enables us to better monitor your eye health annually.
  • Our committment is to offer all of our patients the highest standard of care available today.

Your vision insurance plan provides you with a basic vision examination, but does not include advanced disease detection procedures such as the Optomap® exam, a screening fee will apply.  Your medical insurance will pay towards the exam if concerns are diagnosed.  For more information and to read patient stories visit:  http://www.optos.com/us/Your-Eye-Health/Patient-Stories/.

GDX Glaucoma Screening

The GDX exam is a quick and painless process that allows your doctor to see the pattern and thickness of the nerve fibers in the back of your eyes.  Thinner than normal nerve fibers could indicate glaucoma before any vision loss occurs.  Such early diagnosis allows your doctor more time to manage the disease.

Vision Therapy

Dr. Fink is looking forward to offering a new service at Advanced Eyecare Associates. She will be providing vision therapy starting in September 2008. Vision therapy is a treatment program designed to help children learn, relearn and reinforce specific skills to eliminate vision problems and improve their visual system. A child who can read 20/20 on a Snellen acuity chart can still have an undetected visual processing problem that can hinder their ability to comprehend information.
